His Excellency Maher Julfar, the First Vice President of the Exhibition and Conference Halls Department at the Dubai World Trade Center was welcomed by the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association. He visited the Emirates Down Syndrome association to see closely the services provided by the association.
Dr Manal Jaarour, Chairman of the Board of Directors, accompanied by Ms Nawal Al Nasser, Vice Chairman of the Board, Ms Safia Al-Safi, Member of the Board of Directors, and Ms Salma Kanaan, Executive Director, accompanied His Excellency on an introductory tour of all the facilities of the association and briefed him on all the services provided.
His Excellency Maher Julfar praised the quality of services provided in the association, he was briefed during the tour on the self-advocacy program for people with Down syndrome. Implemented for the first time at the state level and includes advocates from all Emirates. The visit coincided with the second training session of the self-advocacy program for people with Down syndrome, which will extend for more than a year and aims to enable self-advocates to speak for themselves, express their opinions, demand their rights, and represent the country in the Dubai Down Syndrome World Congress 2020, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 15 -17 November 2020
His Excellency Julfar commended the association’s role in the quality services provided to people with Down syndrome. And emphasized the importance of the involvement of all sectors of society. Activate their role in social responsibility and support for people of determination.

During the visit, His Excellency and the Board of Directors discussed supporting the association and its programs. It is worth noting that the association’s efforts resulted in hosting the Dubai World Down Syndrome Congress 2020, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa.
