Bocce Tournament

Each year the association organizes The National Bocce Tournamentfor people with Down syndrome, under the supervision of a special committee. This tournament helps increase the competitive spirit among the players and italso helps player with self-expression, finally it approves on the equality principle in the society.

Introduction about Bocce

Bocce ball is a sport that requires a lot of skills especially thinking skills, in order to earn a score, the player has to move as many balls as possible to the goal (Pallino).

One team is allowed to have 2 to four players

Each member of the team is allowed to have two balls, players in one team exchange turns into rolling as many balls as possible to the scoringpoint (Pallino).   The Pallinois thrown at the beginning of the game

Bocce is considered a recent added game to the special needs Olympics and this addition happened in 1995

  • Raising social awareness about people with Down syndrome and their capabilities
  • Provide better life conditions for people with Down syndrome through providing the complete support
  • Partnering with the public and private institutions in order to direct their social responsibility towards supporting people with Down syndrome
  • Discover the potential skills and abilities of people with Down syndrome
  • Raising awareness and helping people with Down syndrome be more involved in the society
  • Increase the levels of physical movementcapabilityfor people with Down syndrome
  • Enable people with Down syndrome to be productive members in the society.
  • Promoting the association’s events and activities
  • Promoting Bocce game locally and offer it for people with Down syndrome from both genders
  • Offering the same opportunities for both genders with Down syndrome
  • Spreading enthusiasm among the athletes with Down syndromeand motivating them into having a competitive but humble spirit
  • Advertising and extending the practice of Boccefor both genders with Down syndrome
  • Exchange acquaintance with the other sports clubs and teams and form respectful and good relations with them
  • Choosing the best candidates to present the UAEin the international championships
