Launch of the First Production Line for the Emirates Down Syndrome Hospitality Academy

Emirates Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) has launched the first production line for the Emirates Down Syndrome Hospitality Academy, in line with its strategic objective to empower and include people with Down syndrome, by providing opportunities to refine their skills and enabling them in suitable projects according to their professional tendencies and enhancing the quality of services provided to them.
Dr. Manal Jaroor, EDSA Chairperson, stated: “The Emirates Down Syndrome Hospitality Academy, known as the ‘Creative Kitchen,’ is one of our most significant sustainable projects. The academy is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment that meet the highest safety and hygiene standards, allowing us to offer professional training in cooking and hospitality. This will open doors for full inclusion into society, secure real jobs in the hospitality sector, and help develop their social skills, enabling them to live as equals alongside their peers.”
She expressed her delight at the level of achievement among the students and at reaching this milestone through collaboration with volunteer chef Abdulrahman Alshuqairi.
Jaroor emphasized the association’s commitment to partnering with leading entities in both the public and private sectors to train people of determination and provide vocational habilitation opportunities. EDSA have collaborated with the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management – Jumeirah to deliver the first academic program of its kind in the country, tailoring three courses to suit the students’ capabilities using the latest methodologies, including cooking techniques, food service, and housekeeping.
For her part, Ms. Nawal Al Nasser, EDSA Vice Chairperson, affirmed that the association aims to create genuine job opportunities for people with Down syndrome through these sustainable projects, empowering and integrating them into society.
