Champions of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association Participate in the First Edition of the UAE Special Olympics Games

The champions of the Emirates Down Syndrome Association took part in the first edition of the UAE Special Olympics Games in the bowling competition. The event was organized by the UAE Special Olympics at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) and the Khalifa International Bowling Center. More than 600 athletes from clubs and centers for People of Determination across the country competed in six sports: badminton, basketball, bowling, football, powerlifting, and e-sports.
Dr. Manal Jaroor, EDSA Chairperson, expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding efforts of the UAE Special Olympics, praising their ongoing pioneering role in organizing sports tournaments. She described the event as a true national sports celebration that successfully achieved its goal of integrating People of Determination at all levels.
Mrs. Nawal Al Nasser, EDSA Vice Chairperson, stated:
“We witnessed an exceptional tournament with a high level of organization that deserves to be praised. We enjoyed every moment of the championship, which offered players a unique experience. It was inspiring to see such a large number of participants from diverse sports disciplines coming together under one unified event.”
Captain Mahmoud Atwan, the team’s coach, said:
“Our players shined in the bowling competitions and achieved remarkable results. In the doubles category, the team won three silver medals and four bronze medals. In the singles bowling competition, the team earned one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals.”
Emirates Down Syndrome Association values the role of its distinguished partners in creating an enabling environment for success at all levels.
